Writing Your Book – The Environmental Issue.

Choosing your ground

If you are reading this, then there is quite a good chance you have an urge to or are already writing in one form or another.  You may be just starting out, you may have been writing for some time, or you be thinking about writing and are working through several blogs getting an idea as to the commitment involved.

This post and subsequent ones will be about some of the issues involved, the platform used will be my latest project ‘Our Skirmishers of Lace, Steel and Fire,’ I will be trying to avoid:

Preaching for this to be the ‘true and only way’ to write

This being a marketing feature.

These posts are one writer’s experiences, you can take notes, compare or resolve to do the opposite. Whatever. As long as you are writing or starting to write.

Thus said;

A daunting aspect of writing is starting off. Most folk will go through an episode of staring at a blank paper or screen. All the words which were tumbling around in their head have either evaporated and lie condensed in the sub-conscious or are blocked up somewhere along the creative channel. The poor writer in a creative panic, thinking, whispering or muttering: ‘Where do I start?’

Nothing unusual there.

A writer might have a plot line but still can’t get the details onto ‘paper’. If you are on a laptop, by the way and are listening to music do not be tempted to go onto YouTube to watch the music ‘live’; more chapters, ideas and writing time are lost that way than through state censorship.

One way to ease in is to have your backdrop, environment and underlying themes set out as a motivation. Let me elaborate here using myself as a laboratory specimen.

As the years go on, I find myself becoming increasingly picky about subject matter. The moment the words ‘serial killer’ crop or ‘conspiracy at highest levels’ crop up, I am off and away. The former repel me, the latter I have had my fill of. There you go; my choice. Also, after reading so much political and military history there is a tendency for me to go for happy or at least equitable endings.

After reading a great deal a writer (or writer in situ) will have a sneaking whisper in their head ‘Yeh, fine, but I think I could do better’; nothing wrong with that just so long as you keep the feeling under control and don’t publicly savage all writers rather than write.

A writer may also feel they have a voice and just want it to be heard/read.

Putting those aspects all into my head and mixing them up this is the universe which began to form, the one most comfortable for me to write in. In this instance ‘comfortable’ does not mean cosy or easy, the usage refers to the most productive way the words come out.

In my case. Firstly being a Calvin (Calvin & Hobbes) type-dreamer I am hopeless at writing about the normal world. I am at my ease when writing fantasy for being incurably impatient researching science to create a credible SF background would just not work for me. Give me a place where laws of physics and chemistry are working which have not yet been uncovered or fully realised. But may I stick with some of continuity!

My familiarity geographically is with northern Europe, as this book is set in another time after monumental events this gives me some leeway to juggle about with peoples, places and locations. Thus, a great deal is given up to the readers imagination.

As stated above since everything is geared towards a certain type of ending it is easier to move along while creating ‘bumps’ in the road, in fact flooding out the road on occasions, or putting in a divert.

My own interests have always been in matters military, my work experience has been in the UK civil service thus I approach neither subject with a rigidity or clichés. The principal characters are also the ones at the bottom rungs, so they are focused or trying to carry or survive orders.

I like romance as a feature of a story. Setting this in a narrative is not a problem, avoiding the cliched predictable, highly unrealistic settings, interactions and terrible descriptions are! ( more about that later…later I said!)

Evil does not triumph in my books. Evil has one hell of a (‘hell of a’!..you gotta laugh folks, I got dozens like that!) time in my worlds, in fact my challenge is having the thing hang around enough to create a feasible contest. The main methods of destruction and unhappiness in my worlds are. (A) The well-meaning authoritarians who think they know best (B) The folks whose plans are not very good (C) The opportunists waiting for the ‘main’ chance (D) The thoughtless idiot (E) The unforeseen collision of plans.

I personally cannot write very long without some sort of humour creeping it. This may take the form of a satirical comment on today or some of the lazier troupes of Fantasy writing. It can be bawdy or downright slapstick. It may be knockabout verbal. Being a male as we never grow up it could be very, very juvenile. Since all these happen in Life anyhow, I have no problems with putting any of them into the narrative.

And finally, tying in with the ‘evil’ thing as those who have read my posts know I have no tolerance level for cruelty, bigotry, and violence on the weak, so I work out a few ‘issues’ without being too obvious and straining the narrative.

The above are therefore my ways of giving myself a setting I can work with, to enable me to concentrate upon plot and characters. Some of the facets I have listed in fact encourage me to get on with the work, because I do so want to write about them; the problem being not to rush into these or keep repeating unless there might be good cause (a really valid ‘might’). Thus, there is my environment to work within.

If you take a ‘Living World’ analogy it can be seen there are many environments in which Life flourishes. Therefore, what is my favoured environment, might well be another’s arid desert, frozen tundra, crushing sea bottom depths or any other comparison you might care to make which will stifle your creativity. The important facet being you create your own in which your own flora and fauna of a book may flourish.

Keep on keeping.

An Interlude on FaceBook (Or Why I Choose Word Press)

This blog from time to time does contain rants or pithiness concerning the small and the confused folk who inhabit FaceBook and slosh around their limited perspectives with all the appeal of ‘that drunk’ who is ruining your evening or disturbing your train/bus journey home. As a consequence, I don’t use it much apart from a few writers, and of course family & friends. But from time to time I amble about making the odd throwaway remark as takes m’ fancy.

Well for those of you not British, we in typical British style have embroiled ourselves in a messy farce, this time Brexit many on both sides tackling the debate t like a re-run of the Thirty Years War and the Government’s approach does seem to be rather disjointed, disunited and a bit chaotic. So anyway there was this relatively harmless item and I just added a like-hearted  comment, reflecting what I thought was the average person’s opinion of the current state.

Annnddd I attracted one of the Huff ‘n Puff brigade which has no particular political stripe being dedicated to being rude to those who do not agree with them.

This guy seems to spend a lot of his time dashing from one site to another making derogatory remarks to Remainers (ie folk who want the UK to stay with Europe), so there was a good chance we would bump into each other. Here is the exchange that followed. (His name has been changed, after all it wouldn’t be fair to print it without his permission, would it now?)

ME: As a devotee of the Marx Bros. and Three Stooges Films I would like to thank the Govt, The Daily Mail, The Express, The Sun and the Hard-Line Breixteers through Brexit for keeping the spirit of that style of zany, knock-about comedy alive (Mr J Rees-Mogg does need some better writers though, he’s not as funny as Boris Johnson)

HUFF ‘N PUFF: Let’s face it, it isn’t the method you’re upset about. It’s only the result.

ME: You’re not sitting where I am. I’ve witnessed foolishness in comments and attitudes from both sides which places me way beyond upset. Quite detached in fact. If another vote turns up I’ll vote Remain because our time as a player on the World Stage is over; it happens it’s our turn to decline. In the meantime, I will choose to ridicule the shriller voices on both sides. Too many folk going around on rocket-powered tricycles yelling their heads off (that is allegorical by the way)

HUFF ‘N PUFF: Change your medicine. LSD is reputedly good.

ME: Oh dear, oh dear. The predictable insulting response. And not even an original one either. Doesn’t matter whether the reply comes from The Right or The Left it soon comes down to this. Straight out of the blocks, no conversation no discussion, The Same Old, Same Old. Alt Right. Momentum. Brextiteers. Remainiacs. I get the same response to any comment be it serious or humorous. ‘Ugh they disagree with me. Ugh me throws rocks.’ I used to get really angry, these days I have to laugh. You are all so damn predictable.

That was three days ago, no response

So remember folk when confronting one of these uninvited folk adopt the following:

Dismiss their remarks as predictable and unoriginal

Admit that there are idiots on your side of the argument.

Say you’ve been insulted by idiots for not having exactly the same opinion as them.

Despair of idiots in general.

Suggest they are also an idiot for behaving this way.

Wait for their response.

HA!

FINSBURY PARK MOSQUE

Those who have read this blog over the months will know I have an intolerance of Intolerance and I hate Hate with twin passions that simply mirror those of the perpetrators; my weakness, my demons, my battle.

Today when I read the news of the dreadful and evil event at the mosque in Finsbury my first emotion was rage and came instinct to pick a social media fight with anyone who did not condemn this vile act, then I visited the Finsbury Park mosque site and good sense took over, inspired by the many of carry out small deeds  of charity and love for and to anyone irrespective of race, belief system, politics, creed, gender social grouping and so forth.

I sent a message of support to the mosque.

I urge you to do the same. The Hate-Mongers will not win.

Ah…..Those Re-writes….Right?

I can understand why some fellow writers dislike or dread the require re-reading or revision of The First Draft. funny-victorian-era-photos-silly-vintage-photography-9-575132ee985f9__700Yes, typos and minor grammatical errors are bound to be encountered. The true misery comes when what you originally remembered as an erudite speech by a principal character now reads like something you’d overhear at a bar late-night time, or you find out that another principal character far from being a reflective and incisive person, when placed in the context of whole book is a stultifying and repetitive boring pedant. And then worse of all; half way through the plot seems to have evaporated. It happens. I feel your pain, I have been there.William Shakespeare

Now personally, not truly being wholly respectful of Reality I tend to enjoy dip into the ones created in my books where everything is mine, mine all mine! Except of course when the characters take over and require me to chase after them and find out just where they have gone.Sprinter

So there was/is Patchwork Warriors First Draft completed and wasn’t that a cool way to end this volume. Well, I says let’s see what is what.

Naturally there was the usual battle with Microsoft Word and the justifiable expletives outrage1-620x350 at it over Reflexive Pronouns and other obscure rules of grammar which might be important in a business presentation but mean nothing in the world of literary endeavour. (I mean, be fair who interrupts your discourse with a cry of ‘You used a reflexive pronoun!’ and claps their hands over their child’ears?…..Really? I must come and stare at them).

The first problem was a usual one for me; I hate villains, blaming ‘successful authors’ for using Cliché Central to meet the deadline. So this really nasty guy had ended up like something out of pulp melodrama, longjohnsilverall that was needed was a moustache and lines like ‘ Har-har! In Me Power’, or one of those dire half-paragraph god-complex asides beloved of serial killers. Well as much as I hate the little toe-rag I had to put some back-bone and originality into him. This had its benefits, this caused me to delve more into the scientific/magic background of the world. So all good.

Next came an issue which sneaked up on the proverbial outside rail. A nick-name used by one character to another; it had seemed to lend a flippant air to their relationship, but after reading it over and over and over I had to admit it was unoriginal and not the sort of thing the one character would have used, anyway there might have been a copyright issue. So recourse to the one useful Word trick ‘Ctrl+F and select ‘Replace’…. Wow 75 replacements…who’d have thought it???happy-face-clipart-12

Then going back to the scientific/magic background, as I footled about, the part of me fascinated by Quantum Physics and Cosmology began to nag away with questions like ‘How do they do that?’ or ‘Yeh, but if that is so..well what about that?’. imagesC0U7V2EDThis started a dispute with my literary imagination which demanded if I was intent on writing an alternative scientific treatise or a fantasy novel, ‘cas if it was the former then the imagination was going to take a walk. So over a coffee and a dish-washing duty it occurred to me this was a fracture society still grasping with fragments of knowledge, so who would know everything….well no one of course. (Naw, one character with encyclopaedic knowledge of the world and massive controlling powers is no fun at all in a fantasy novel, ends up coping -put all over the place).

Then there was the dropping out of bits which were long asides and all fun slowed the pace down, or were now redundant with other changes…..Some were not bad, so Highlight; Ctrl+C, then over to a document I keep for bits I might use again and Ctrl+V and back to the novel and ‘delete’, so nothing really lost.b85885aa0fd01f0cbebaa2798639b472

The book is thus morphing, which is how it should be and it’s good fun, because I do like my central characters and one of the villains and it is nice to speak to them and exchange ideas…..yes you can do that, it’s perfectly alright; don’t worry about that ‘Reality’ thing.

If this sounds very familiar to you, congratulations you are on the Good Road. Rewards yourself as follows

Buy yourself a book, you can never have too many books and anyway it’s all part of the literary process.

Treat yourself to a cup or mug of tea or coffee of your choice.

Have a biscuit or snack of course choice.

Ah….Fresh Air!! (Mild showers of Rant warning)

Sorry I’m late folks. I really should have been writing up a post about the experiences when going through your first draft you find a big bit of the plot stinks and you have an experience similar to the crew of a big ocean going ship trying to steer it around too quickly. Anyway another day maybe.

No, I have been out and about mis-behaving on a Social Media site. The mother of that fool who killed and maimed folk on London bridge. The dear lady was expressing her grief at what he had done.

You would not believe the spiteful, nasty, bigoted and ignorant comments directed at her and Muslims in general…..or sadly maybe you would.

So yours truly posted out a comment condemning them and telling the bozos they were great recruiters for IS, then I made a few personal attacks on some of the very most objectionable attacks (see how they like it) an praised one dear lady who supported the woman. I then posted up a faux-set of awards for the ‘best’ stupid comments so far and am hoping to upset a few folk.

But it brings out the ravage/Punisher in me, and being Lent I shouldn’t be doing such things. (I fall for it every time). Thus I return to the clear air of WP. Even though I strongly disagree with them all, even the acts of the current Administration seem tolerable in comparison. (Just rich folk getting richer? Or finding ways to dismantle govt to get even richer?)

I embrace you all. I embrace those I agree with. I embrace those I disagree with, because here on WP at least the latter are eloquent and put forward arguments in an understandable and sometimes witty way.

Oooh, it’s good to be back in WP.

Keep the lights shining and keep on writing folks.

And take care of you and yours

Intolerance- I would have you rot.

Good day to you all. There are 200 + followers to this blog (thank you one and all). Now many of you recently arrived will be familiar with the quirky, idiosyncratic, affable posts.

That author’s not at home today. You’ve got me instead. At this stage I would advise you there will be (A) Unsettling political ideals stated (B) Harsh and unforgiving opinions (C) Stern and iron clad condemnatory statements (D) One of two profanities used with surgical care. (E) This post may upset everyone that reads it. (F) It’s very long 2000+ words- I may have overdone it- don’t care.

The Hate and The Intolerance. A Waste

The rage and the outrage, turned into screaming obscenity and masked as justifiable by The Left. The swift urge to hide behind Freedom of Speech, wilful mis-reading of a Constitution, Bible or political creed by The Right. What a complete and utter waste of time by one and all!

Sad and infuriating to observe the willingness to fall into step with the terminally stupid, the twisted hate-mongers and the snake-oil merchants all peddling their brands of Intolerance, because oh yes indeed, nothing sells so good a Venom and Fear. US Elections, Brexit and now Frexit (France goes to elections shortly). Another period of history where the histrionic and the hysterics have their say revelling in the attention while their followers puff out their chests and make proud with ‘Not In My Name’ banners or fatuously proclaim ‘Liberty’ (for themselves of course). Lots of shouting but very little talking. What fools. What blind, useless, destructive, criminal waste of energy and endeavour. In a world thank is screaming out for communal effort and far-sighted strategy here we have the unedifying spectacle of whole populations dithering, spitting and scrapping over meaningless picky bits of irrelevance.

One Solution: Then Another

Small wonder then that when I view Orwell’s ‘1984’ I think to myself: ‘Not a bad way to run a country. Need to drop the ‘Hate’ interludes and replace it with ‘Community’. Lighten up a bit on the party members (bread and circuses thing). Oh yeh Room 101, just talk at them, on and on and on; that’ll work’ . Oh yes, dear reader my views are very austere Left-Wing, none of your fluffy ‘Freedom and Rights’. For me: Civil Rights come with Civil Responsibilities. You abuse the latter, you seriously lose the former. There is a simple equation to this, we live in complex societies with many layers of beliefs, outlooks, social styles, advantage (or lack of) and financial inequality; these cause many pressures which must be kept in check and then the energy syphoned off- (social programmes folks, we all put in- no exceptions, everyone to the best of their ability.). Hate- can’t change Humanity, but The State can certainly weed out and supress the corrosion and its sources, and the State can ensure that the best doctrine for social stability can be indoctrinated.

I daresay this is all very disturbing for many, and no doubt if many of the more strident folk on social media were to read this they would be in Abuse Mode in seconds. To the latter my answer is a shrug and the response. ‘Well you had better do something to prove that people of different views, outlooks, races and beliefs can get along together. Prove your maturity. Talk. Discuss. Listen. Learn. All of you.’ . Because historically, in terms of centuries the wheels will turn, the engines re-calibrated and is response to this rowdy negativity will come authoritarianism, and many will welcome it, for the seeming stability it brings, and as for the rest, you will be consumed by the system, fresh and supported.

I’m Calling Out The Culprits

Now I’ll only deal with the US & The UK because those are the nations I am most familiar with. The US comes first because you are the younger:

USA

Firstly I will not really bother with President Trump. He is where he is because a large section of the population both for and against him are not thinking straight. Putting an amateur in charge? If he hadn’t been around those who voted for him would have invented him.  He has to learn pretty fast, novelty can soon wear off, and the might which is the state has many tricks up its sleeve to immobilise him.

Anyway, to the population. It’s difficult to know where to start really. Apparently, there is an Alternative Right, well in the UK we had an Alternative Left; they seem to be very similar. Loud, aggressive (but only to those they can bully or out-number), narrow minded and much given to wrapping up prejudices in some nebulous excuse of ‘The Right To Free Speech’. Looking at the US these seem to be the very folk which The Founding Fathers did not wish to give the vote to ‘The Mob’. There’s some little person scrabbling about the place claiming the ‘Right To Be Offensive’ ; I’m guessing someone who wouldn’t have been allowed to sign the Declaration of Independence. Then we have those who have bought into the notion that every Muslim is a threat and it would only take a few in their town to ruin it. This is of course just what IS and the rest love, white folk picking on Muslims, ideal recruiting fodder. Naturally I could go on about the misogynists, the old fashioned racists (all nicely packaged these days) and my brother and sisters in Christ who somewhere along the way decided that Jesus didn’t really mean you should love everyone and not call everyone a fool, he was obviously referring to Fine, Upstanding Folk. Somewhere mixed up and dragged along with these tawdry groups are folk who really just want everything to be Peaceful, Quiet and Prosperous. These I say, talk to the other side, you don’t really belong amongst the haters. Use you God-given Hearts and Minds.

Now my good friends on The Left or the Liberal Wing. It is very difficult in these times to make your voices heard, seeing as how most of Talk Radio seems inhabited by those paid for their capacity to shock and upset , and of course the Net has rank and festering pools of Hate. The problem you have is similar to those on the Right, you are listening to the wrong folk, the Strident who love to preach to the converted, because they love the feedback. Your tactical problem is you will keep denigrating the entire opposition as if they all lacking in intelligence all are bigoted and quite frankly you seem to think they are all weird. Not so, they are simply you on the other side of the mirror. Why are you not embracing the Dignity of the Silent Protest or the Reasoned Argument. Yes, it is difficult, but shouting is the easy and quite wrong answer. Yes I know the moment you appear above the parapet you get labelled Social Justice Warrior or worse. I did my time both in the UK Civil Service and on a Religious Discussion Site hijacked by the more venomous type of atheist who adhere to the Book of Dawkins and take it from me the only way you get through is by quiet and reasoned argument; some of course will not get it because they don’t want to. But don’t follow the offensive ones, like the guy allegedly an academic who stole the Sacred Host from a Catholic Church and messed with it and burnt a copy of the Quran to demonstrated his bigotry against religion. And there are those in crowd who physically attack the single member of the opposition (usually a woman I notice).

Talk together everyone, lest you watch your country separate into minor nations because that is just what History has in store for you if you don’t learn.

UK

I am less forgiving here. The Isles have been through many trials and tribulations over a two thousand years and damn’d well should have learnt by now.. The native folk of many regions have often vented their ignorant anger on minorities. Less us not hear about the The Irish, or The Scots or The Welsh or The English and their trials, none of us are innocent and the total victim. We are all guilty, mostly of selective history and doing whatever suited us at the time.

So now, these Isles with no merchant fleet to speak of, a navy that is very small, an industrial base which is mostly overseas owned, relies on an overseas supply on energy and communally insist that we can’t possibly use any homegrown energy sources lest they impinge on our back gardens; whose income comes from the unformulated world of finance has now decided that if we set the clock back the The Glorious Revolution of 1688-89 then all will be well because we can magic up the conditions to make us a great trading powerhouse. Some of course blame all the foreign people that have come here for everything that has gone wrong which is an excuse so old but regrettably not worn out.

But we are also quite inventive in our spite here. In fact we are far more enterprising that our fellows in ignorance in the US, we don’t have a written constitution to play with. However, us Brits are much more inventive. Particularly my comrades on the Left; The Fashionable Left that is.

Of course prejudice is a nasty thing and we wouldn’t want to be associated with those horrible people on The Right, but fear not we can hide behind the masks of Social Conscience. We can indulge in an old tradition in these Isles of Anti-Semitism, but these days we can say it’s because we object to the Israeli Government. It’s so much more easy than trying to make common cause with the Israeli opposition groups, and there are Jews here to  pick on. Naturally it’s nothing personal because we all know they support the Israeli Govt. We would be horrified to be associated with attacks on Muslim folk as individuals, but of course we can rail against Islam because look how ‘they’ treat their women. They all do it y’know. None of those women wish to dress like that, they have been brain-washed by their men. And of course we are on safe ground by being offensive to religion overall because it has been the cause of more wars and abuse than anything else in the whole wide-world. We know, we read it on a web-site.

And finally, the Left can indulge in some real open racism by picking on Americans. We can call them stupid, lazy, ignorant, superstitious (religion) obsessed with guns and every single adult for being responsible for Donald Trump, because we are witty, astute, informed having spent many minutes reading inanities on web-sites. And no obviously we didn’t mean those of the minorities, no  we have been mis-understood.

Coming back to reality there is nothing so sad in the UK as someone on the Left displaying a crass ignorance by generalising; unless you count those who enthusiastically agree with them.

Conclusion

So what do I know then? Apart from my history. Well I know about Intolerance and Prejudice I’ve suffered them but more importantly I’ve indulged and am still prey to them. Oh yes, Racial Prejudice, small -time irritation but some standards, but it’s there no the less. I don’t even have excuse of being born into it, I acquired it as an adult. NO I don’t make a virtue of that. It’s a weakness to be fought against, to be erased. It is an offense unto God. I written all these words under a cloud of hypocrisy. The details are secret, because I do not wish to cause offense to anyone by detailing this moral crime of which I am guilty. The internal battle goes on; it will not win.

I could go on a lot longer, but it would be a bit self-indulgent.

In conclusion I would thank you all who’ve read this. And if anyone wants to rant at me in justifiable outrage, please do, as Mr Bennett said in Pride and Prejudice “I am at my leisure”

Advice (Sage) and Example (Tragic)- Only the Other Way ‘Round, On Account of It Working Out That Way.

And much to my delight I completed the first draft of The Patchwork Warriors, by the 31st January 2017, as scheduled. The whole writing process was fun; there were times when it was necessary to stop because of a ‘What In the Name of My Ragged Trainers is going to happen next?’ interlude; and thus would be the time on pondering until eventually came a ‘Ding’ moment and onwards would flow the narrative. Watching the characters develop not in the initial way intended was quite paternal; they certainly taught me quite a great deal. With such a diverse crew running about the story there were times, Dear Reader, when I felt quite tolerant to almost all of my fellow human beings; which is quite enriching. Now will come the bit I really have a good time with; the re-write. Some might find this a hard slog, not myself, reading the story again there are times when I do experience a ‘Jumping Jell-Beanz! That’s not half-bad’ moment, and thus carry on encouraged. Yep at some stage the novel will be there, all tided up with 99% of spelling mistaks and 98% of all true grammatical errors does get sorted right.

And???

Ah Dear Reader

“Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak knits up the o-er wrought heart and bids it break.”  (MacBeth).

‘Cuz this is the bit where the true import of the underlying theme of this blog comes into monstrous bloom, that does chill the blood of gentle souls, and yet should fire bright defiant inspiration into the hearts of those who are warriors willing to enter into the lists at the Muse’s clarion call.

In short at this stage

There will have been zero information about this work on Twitter, Facebook and other sites or platforms I am too lazy to read about.

I will have gone about my usual business of no contact realised or intended with anyone involved in the publishing process. So professional or very astute semi-professional input will be lacking.

No thought will have been given to a book cover, despite there being some very talented folk in the WP community who can produce such things

Aside from this blog and its 200+ followers, to whom I extend my thanks, and gratitude, no one knows ‘spiffle’ about this book.

Marketing is something other and more astute folk do.

Whereas I know all of which I should be doing, I have a feeling I shall simply seek out an Amazon Kindle format and do things the kina cheap ‘n cheerful way in the vague hope that I will gather a cult following who will do all the hard work for me.

Now understandably at this stage any far better organised, motivated, dedicated and serious writers who are reading this will wish they could find a cyber brick to throw at me in the hope of knocking some sense into my stupid head.

For those of you new to my blog I would repeat that one of the themes of this blog is for new readers to read it and do the opposite of whatever I am doing and thus be in with a chance of of doing reasonably well with their work. Hence the title of the blog. Hence the title I use.

And thus endeth the Example (Tragic) bit.

But why dear writer? You ask Why do you carry on thus?

Because Dear Reader I….LOVE….WRITING! It is the sole motivation. There will never be any large financial return. I write for the joy of seeing a creation move from the mind to the page. I soar on the growth of the characters and the twists and turns their journeys take. I create because I can, and because I want to. There is little I can do to change this world we live in, but within my writing in my own universe in which my beliefs, my intentions, my perceptions can grow. There will come a time when a project is completed and I will set this precious artefact out upon its own voyage into the literature and cyber-verses and thus will leave its fortunes to the various tides and courses of Natures. And I will be content. For the creation of thoughts into words is the most important aspect of response to the Muse. To sat down and worked, melding ideas, sculpting thoughts, crafting the words on pages over and over until they flow as a stream is sufficient for a writer. It may seem, the work is unknown, by the shallow standards of today the efforts have gone unnoticed. This is not so, a writer creates, a writer records that creation and thus becomes in a small way a part of the journey of Humanity; the work may in time be discovered by others and viewed interesting, a view of these times and thus maybe invaluable.

It is enough fellow writer that you worked and created.

And thus endeth the Advice (Sage).

I wish you all, all the very best in your endeavours. Belong to the Ages. You can achieve. No one can stop you. Just wave to me as you pass me by, still hacking away on my own furrow.
